Halloween In Savannah

Are you looking for a family friendly Halloween event to enjoy with your kids or a fun and freaky Halloween happening for you and a few friends?  There is plenty to do in Savannah for Halloween! Here are some of our favorite ways to get you in the spooky spirit!
What’s more frightening than Savannah’s historical demise? Davenport House Museum is the place to find out!  Visit them for a recreation of the deadly outbreak of yellow fever of the 19th century. Savannah was hit hard by the tragic yellow fever endemic, in which thousands and thousands of people died. Every Friday and Saturday in October, prepare to experience the horror of this outbreak as it happened in history, focusing on the horrific fate and the experiences of the people who were affected.  Local tip…this is the only time of year you get to see their Attic.  Be prepared to feel chills!
What is Halloween without Rocky Horror Picture Show?  Brad, Janet and all of our unconventional conventionalists come to life in this live cult classic musical!  Discover what happens when sweethearts Brad and Janet head inside the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.  The showings at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27-29 are only for the grown-ups.  Must be 21.  The 7:30 p.m. showing on Oct. 30 is for all ages but the midnight showing is again reserved for only adults 21 and older, as well as the Oct. 31 showing at 7:30 p.m.
If you’re in the mood to run, and not from Savannah’s ghosts, the 19th annual Trick-or-Trot family 5k returns to the Islands YMCA on October 29 at 8 a.m., promising a fun run for everyone! This event is the perfect family-friendly run for people of all ages. Whether you’re looking for a warm-up for the upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, or if you’re just looking for something fun and healthy for the entire family to enjoy, this event is perfect for walkers and runners alike. This year’s run will raise funds for local charities supported by the Sunrise Rotary Club.  Or head over to Lake Mayer October 29 at 8:30 a.m. for the Reaper 5k Run!  Construct your best, most amazing Halloween costumes and get ready for the amazing Reaper Run throughout the beautiful Lake Mayer Park! There will be an awesome Costume Contest with plenty of rewards, along with a fantastic post-race party with tons of spooky music and treats.
If you aren’t ready to run October 29 at 1 p.m. you have another option for the kids and adults alike!  The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge invites everyone to their 2nd annual Halloween Bat Spooktacular, where people can come out and learn about one of the “spookiest,” most misunderstood creatures: the bat! This free, family-fun event offers up-close interactions with rescued bats, as well as lots of activities and crafts—the perfect way to celebrate Bat Week!
And end your Halloween weekend at Wormsloe Historic Site for their Colonial Haunted Trail Tour also on October 29 from 7-9 p.m.!  A ranger will guide you into the past to site of colonist Nobel Jones. Keep close together as you explore the trail and hopefully you will be safe from the zombies, ghosts and ghouls drifting under the looming oak trees and Spanish moss. Tours will depart from the Visitors Center every 15 minutes beginning at 7:30pm.
